Over his 10+ years of experience, Georges Schoucair has developed and produced critically acclaimed [and award-winning] independent movies and has actively contributed to the establishment of an attractive and globally acknowledged environment for film investments in Lebanon and to the development of the Lebanese cinema, one of the most promising cinemas being created in the Middle-East today.
As a producer, Georges was able to develop strong relationships with prominent Arab and international film professionals and has closely worked with award winning directors (such as Kaouther Ben Hania, Ivo Ferreira, Alain Gomis, Annemarie Jacir, Khalil Joreige, Joana Hadjithomas, Mohammad Malas, Lucretia Martel, Shirin Neshat, Asli Ozge, Rafi Pitts, Ghassan Salhab, Bill Plympton, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Vatche Boulghourjian) and internationally recognized actors (such as Catherine Deneuve, Pierre Richard, Nadine Labaki, Nada Abou Farhat, Diamand Bou Abboud). His films have been exhibited at international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Toronto, Venice, Locarno, Karlovy Vary…
In parallel to Abbout Productions, Georges founded MC Distribution, a distribution company which releases Arab and international films in the Middle-East, and has been since 2008 the active vice-president of Metropolis, a differentiated art house cinema venture in Beirut. His most recent endeavor is Schortcut Films, which objective is to identify and invest in high quality international independent films.
Myriam Sassine majored in cinema studies at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) in 2005, and received her M.A. in cinema research in 2009. She started working as a story producer on several reality shows such as the Arab versions of international formats like The Biggest Loser (Reveille Productions), Unanimous (Fox) and Ton of Cash (Endemol). She also directed a documentary, The Palestinian Cause in the Lebanese Cinema (2009), and a short video, No Connection (2006), which was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival 2007 and screened in various festivals and galleries worldwide.
In 2010, Myriam Sassine worked for two years in content development with Lucky Monkey Pictures (USA) and Abbout Productions (Lebanon). In 2012, she became an Associate Producer at Abbout Productions working on several features such as The Valley by Ghassan Salhab & Tramontane by Vatche Boulghourjian. She produced Lebanon Factory (Opened the Director's Fortnight- Cannes Film Festival 2017) and the restoration of Ila Ayn? the first Lebanese auteur film. Myriam also produces feature documentaries: e muet by Corine Shawi, A Time to Rest by Myriam El Hajj, Panoptic by Rana Eid, A Certain Nasser by Badih Massaad and Antoine Waked and Amal by Mohamed Siam.
Myriam is the COO of Schortcut Films, dedicated to coproducing international features and the Executive Director of Maskoon Fantastic Film Festival, the first fantastic film festival in the Middle East.
Antoine Waked studied film directing at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA). After graduating, he worked as a story producer and segment director on several television shows. He has directed three short movies: Le Matelas (2004), Giallo (2005) and the award winning animated film The Big Fall (2005). Since 2005, he has been giving courses at his former university ALBA, where he teaches writing and directing. He is currently working as a screenwriter and development executive with Abbout Productions and as a creative consultant with Schortcut Films.
Antoine also took part of the Torino Film Lab Interchange program as a script con- sultant trainee and the “writing for television” seminar with John Truby in Paris. He wrote a segment of the omnibus film A Quintet (2014) that premiered at the Sa- rajevo Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award at the Chelsea Film Festival. He also directed with Badih Massaad, A Certain Nasser (2017) a feature documentary about pioneer Lebanese filmmaker Georges Nasser.
Antoine is the artistic director of Maskoon Fantastic Film Festival, the first Fantastic Fest in the Arab world.
Christian Eid studied audiovisual and cinema at the Holy Spirit University - Kaslik (USEK) and graduated in 2009. Since 2008, he has worked as a story editor on several TV reality shows. Passionate about film sound, he worked as a boom operator on two feature films:Stray Bullet (2010) by Georges Hachem and Rehle (2010) by Meyar Roumi, a French-Syrian coproduction shot in Syria, Turkey and Iran. He also was the sound operator on many Lebanese short films. In 2010, he moved to the production field and started working as a Production Coordinator then as a Production Supervisor at Abbout Productions. Christian participated in Berlinale Talents 2013.
Mike Malajalian studied film directing at the Lebanese University - Institute of Fine Arts, after a Master's degree in Graphic Design & Visual Communication in the same university.
After graduating, he worked as an art director in many advertising agencies and as a freelance Graphic Designer. He has directed many short movies including La Femme aux Raisins (2011) which was awarded the Silver Aleph at the Beirut International Film Festival 2012 and was selected at film festivals in Bulgaria, USA & Australia, & Gli occhi di Aldo (2014) which he shot in south Italy and was selected in many festivals. He also directed short documentaries, music videos and commercials, and has worked within the organizing teams of many film festivals in Lebanon.
Since June 2015, he joined the Abbout Productions team as Production Coordinator.
Renée Awit studied filmmaking and audiovisual arts at The Institute of Theatre, Audiovisual and Cinematographic Studies (IESAV) of the Saint- Joseph's University. After graduating in 2010, she worked as a segment director and editor on several TV reality shows. She directed two shorts films: the award winning film Au Milieu des Autres (2010) which was screened in various international film festivals and L'Une et L'Autre (2012) and two short documentaries: Grandpa's Cinema (2008) and Familiar Stranger (2015).
She also directed and edited numerous videos and cultural films and was the General Coordinator of many cinematographic projects, workshops and film events.
She started working in 2014 as an Assistant Producer at Abbout Productions.
Ramzi Zoghby graduated from Notre Dame University (NDU) with a B.A in Advertising & Marketing and worked in various multinational companies in Lebanon and the Gulf.
He joined Abbout Productions in May 2014.
Born in Lebanon in 1982, he studied film directing at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) and graduated with high honors in 2005. His graduation short film Badkon shi…t? participated in many international film festivals, like Clermont Ferrand and the short film festival at Tanger, and won le Prix Spécial du Jury at the European Film Festival in Beirut of that same year. Since 2004, Badih has worked as a Director and 1st Assistant Director on many TV commercials, music videos and short films. He participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2006. Since 2012 Badih started teaching directing and editing at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (Alba). In 2017 he co-directs along with Antoine Waked the documentary feature A certain Nasser(2017), a film about the life and films of the founding father of Lebanese cinema Georges Nasser. Badih has now recently joined MC Distribution and Abbout Productions, entering the world of distribution in the Middle-East.
